The Truth About The Promise Of Wisdom – Proverbs 6:22

True wisdom comes from God, and when parents study the word of God and impart that wisdom to their children, there is a promise that wisdom will transfer to your children and will guide them when you are not there. This Scripture is Solomon talking to his son, giving him advice to listen to both his parents as they instruct him in the ways of God.

Teach your children in all that is good and train them up in the way to go and when that child is old, that child will remember what you taught that child and will not stray away from the faith. The deep roots of what a parent can teach a child is difficult for evil to uproot because a child who has a root within itself will always be able to dig up faith, though the world may try to sway the child to its ways throughout the child’s life, that child will always have the faith imparted from the parents who know God to help guide that child through life.

Later, Solomon goes on to warn against adultery, and what Solomon is really saying is to stay away from a potential partner that does not believe in the One True God, a potential partner who is waiting to snatch up a Believer who is on the verge of becoming an unbeliever. Guard yourself and your integrity because even people you hang out with that are just friends will influence a lukewarm Christian who is outnumbered by “friends” who are unbelievers at heart.

Watch out and guard yourself against those who might bring you down because God is merciful and God is just, He does not wish for any to perish, but once you have breathed your last breath, it will be too late to repent and turn back to God.

Proverbs 6:
²⁰ My son, keep your father’s command,
And do not forsake the law of your mother.
²¹ Bind them continually upon your heart;
Tie them around your neck.
²² When you roam, they will lead you;
When you sleep, they will keep you;
And when you awake, they will speak with you.
²³ For the commandment is a lamp,
And the law a light;
Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,
²⁴ To keep you from the evil woman,
From the flattering tongue of a seductress.
²⁵ Do not lust after her beauty in your heart,
Nor let her allure you with her eyelids.
²⁶ For by means of a harlot
A man is reduced to a crust of bread;
And an adulteress will prey upon his precious life.
²⁷ Can a man take fire to his bosom,
And his clothes not be burned?
²⁸ Can one walk on hot coals,
And his feet not be seared?
²⁹ So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife;
Whoever touches her shall not be innocent.
³⁰ People do not despise a thief
If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving.
³¹ Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold;
He may have to give up all the substance of his house.
³² Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding;
He who does so destroys his own soul.
³³ Wounds and dishonor he will get,
And his reproach will not be wiped away.
³⁴ For jealousy is a husband’s fury;
Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
³⁵ He will accept no recompense,
Nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts.
